All You Can Eat Japanese Beef Shabu Shabu in Tokyo! Onyasai, Shinjuku | MerRyan Tokyo Guide
This restaurant is called Onyasai. It is very popular.
Although the restaurant can seat up to 132 people, MerRyan went at 7:30 and couldn't get a sitting. When we returned at 8:00 p.m, the restaurant was bustling as ever.
Looks like everyone is enjoying their meal! They have different choices of the all-you-can-eat buffet.
The prices differ depend on the choice of the meat. Being in Japan, we definitely
went for the Japanese beef all-you-can-eat course.
The marbling on the beef is so beautiful. Can't wait to try it!
There's also a choice of soup base to cook your meat in. You can choose two types of soup. We chose the beef dashi (seaweed) and the special chicken soup. Yummy! I'm talking too much. Let's start eating!
The Japanese beef comes with a special label to certify that it is Japanese beef. You can certainly see the well-defined marbling on the beef.
Cooking the beef is simple: just brush it in the soup for a few seconds and take it out when you feel that it is cooked the way you want.
But of course you can leave it longer if you want your beef to be more cooked. You can eat the beef on its own but MerRyan prefers to dip it in sesame sauce.
We also ordered normal beef for comparison. As you can see, the normal beef is much more lean.
Ordering more beef is simple and painless: just click on a panel on a table to order more. There are so many cuts of beef to choose from.
Besides beef, don't forget to order vegetables too!
Onyasai is also famous for special tsumire meatballs. It comes in a bamboo pole and cooked in a special way like that. Split it into small portions then drop it in the soup.
Then you wait till it's cooked and then you can eat it. Oishii ne!
If you need some carbo, we will recommend to order the special Ippudo ramen noodles to fill yourself up. The buffet also come with drinks, which you can order as much as you want. We recommend the calpis.
Don't forget to order desserts to end the meal with a sweet taste in your mouth. There's so
many types to choose from.
Nothing like ice cream and mango pudding to cool your mouth after all that steam boat food.
Take note that the buffet is time limited, and you have two hours to eat as much as you want.
It is more than enough time though, and the remaining time is flashed on a computer screen, so
you are reminded easily. Take your time. It's a lot of time.
There are many Onyasai outlets throughout Tokyo, and we went to the one at Shinjuku. It's
definitely a highly recommended experience and remember to come very very hungry.
After the meal, you can go shopping at Shinjuku, and Shinjuku closes very late so there are many many things to do.
Onyasai - Yay!
The cut of meat for the beef is really good. You can order the famous black pork too as it comes with the all-you-can-eat set. Two hours is really generous for the meal and it comes with drinks and dessert. If you want carbo, you can also order rice and/or noodles. The soup is really well-cooked and flavoured, and imparts the taste to the meat. Do not give this place a miss in Tokyo, even if you just come here for the ala carte set!
