Hello Hokkaido! Kinotoya BAKE Cheese Tarts in Sapporo - 11 June 2016

Sapporo Kinotoya BAKE Cheese Tarts
If you are ever in Sapporo, try not to miss the delicious original cheese tarts from BAKE by Kinotoya. Almost anyone who arrives in Sapporo would not miss trying all these tarts.

It’s located near Odori Park subway station – specifically at the underground shopping street.
They have another branch at JR Sapporo Station as well.
The tarts look so yummy! It’s cheaper if you get them in a box of 6.
I expected them to be warm and moist but I was wrong – turns out they were room temperature. They even recommended them to be chilled. I am not sure whether cheese tarts are enjoyed chilled?
The cheese is not too rich, yet creamy and sweet – not too overpowering either. It’s a nice snack.
However, I think I would enjoy them better if they were freshly baked and warm. Despite the high turnover – the tarts were flying off the shelves, I was disappointed they were room temperature. Perhaps readers could update me how to enjoy them – probably Kinotoya took great pains to ensure that they are cooled before serving them out?
However, we were surprised to find that soft-serve were sold here!

In fact, most of the Japanese who patronised the shop ate soft-serve instead of the tarts.

We bought one and tried ourselves. It was really really yummy… much more creamier than the other soft-serves in the streets. Cream content was higher so the ice-cream was firmer than the rest. I recommend the soft-serve!
Verdict:
yay - cheese tarts are delicious but expect room temperature versions. How could anyone give these tarts a miss when you are all the way in Sapporo?? The two shops in JR Sapporo and Odori Park are easily accessible, so do drop by.
Yay – the soft-serve is really yummy, so creamy! But it is slightly more expensive… take note! 400 JPY if I remember correctly.
Address:
Underground shopping street outside Mitsukoshi/Parco – ask at the Information counter at the basement of these departmental stores - they are so friendly and will help you!
OR
JR Sapporo station basement East – Ask at Daimaru or refer to the map directory at the PASEO mall.
