Qi Le Boneless Chicken Rice and Soup 祺乐起骨鸡饭 @ S11 Blk 744 Yishun Street 72 (Next to Yishun MRT)
Recently, I moved to Yishun and had the time to explore the area. I came across this interesting chicken rice stall in Yishun chicken rice stall which is next to the MRT.
If you google chicken rice Yishun, you would be overwhelmed by 925 Chicken Rice – there are few blogs out there which actually showcase this stall, but it is definitely worth a try.
After you exit the MRT towards the HDB side, you can’t miss Blk 744.
You also can’t miss the S11 signboard next to the coffeeshop (kopitiam) either.
This coffeeshop is always bustling and filled with people. It is 24 hours btw – so there’s always food. There’s a Muslim stall there as well.
Closer view of the kopitiam – nearly every table is taken.
There’s already a long queue in front of the stall. Note the stall next to it quite free ah?
Forgot to mention the chicken rice is boneless – so the meal is very neat! No messy biting away the bones… good for kids and elderly too.
Another draw is the cheap price – only $3.30 per portion and with free soup!
This is the serving station at the side. Usually they will serve you from this station. You help yourself with the sauces.
The meal looks so yummy! I ordered the 2-person portion of meat ($8). Isn’t it a big portion – like a whole chicken? There are bean sprouts below as well. The rice is $0.60 and it’s a big portion as well. It’s actually a bowl but looks so big after flattening it.
The most impressive is the soup! It is free and such a big bowl. Today’s soup of the day was peanut soup – filled with peanut richness and flavour. You see, they debone the chicken and used the bones to boil the soup – hence this is truly authentic chicken soup.
It’s big bowl of soup! Sometimes they give me just 1 bowl for 2 to share. If you are a soup lover like me, there is no extra cost to ask for 2 bowls of soup for 2 bowls of rice.
I was not lying when I said the portions were generous. Feels like an entire chicken. And all deboned! So no hassle eating this at all. Lightly soya-sauced so there’s flavour. I asked for roast and plain chicken mixed. I prefer the roasted version, but some people prefer the plain one to taste the smoothness of the meat. I think both are good.
Thai fragrant rice that is easy to munch…..
Verdict
yay!
No need to come all the way to Yishun to try this stall, but Yishun has so much good food.
If you are ever in the area and want to try some good chicken rice with soup, come to this stall. There is a reason why this stall is popular as the food is tasty and portions generous. I have tried the 925 version – but the portions were considerably smaller and they run out very quickly.
Hence, why not come here instead? I heard Qi Le is a franchise? Might be other branches.
The Thai stall here is pretty popular too. I might do a review another time….
